Kids Ministry Pastor
Hours: Part-time; 32 hours/week

Position Overview
The Sanctuary Church is a vibrant, Spirit-led community committed to embracing the marginalized and fostering deep, transformative relationships with God. Our Kids Ministry is central to this mission, guiding children from birth through 5th grade to understand their identity in Christ, hear His voice, and follow Him fearlessly. We emphasize creating a safe, caring environment where children, including those from diverse or traumatic backgrounds, can experience healing and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Formation & Curriculum

Select, develop, and implement biblically sound, age-appropriate curricula that emphasize:

Knowing the character of God (God is Good, God is Love, etc.)

Understanding one's identity in God
-
Hearing and discerning God's voice
-
Fearless obedience to God's calling
-
Practices of prayer and worship
-

Ensure curricula are sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of our children.
Environment & Safety
-
Create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment for children and families.

Implement and oversee child protection policies, ensuring all volunteers and staff are trained and compliant.

Design spaces and experiences that make families feel at home and valued.
Volunteer Leadership
-
Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse team of volunteers.

Identify and develop emerging leaders within the volunteer base.

Foster a culture of collaboration, support, and continuous growth among volunteers.
Family Engagement
-
Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, offering resources and support for spiritual growth at home.

Communicate regularly about ministry updates, events, and opportunities for involvement.
-
Provide guidance, direction, and support to families, especially those navigating challenges related to trauma, foster care, or adoption.
Church Integration

Participate in weekly staff meetings, prayer meetings, and other team gatherings.

Attend at least one Sunday service per month outside of ministry responsibilities to stay connected with the broader church community. Consider attending the evening service regularly.

Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure cohesive church-wide initiatives and events.
Qualifications
-
A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to children's ministry.

Experience in children's ministry, education, or related fields, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed care.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to lead, inspire, and manage volunteer teams effectively.

Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the ministry and church community.
Work Schedule

32 hours per week, including:

Sunday mornings.

Weekly staff meetings.
-
Additional hours as needed for planning, volunteer coordination, and events.

Flexible scheduling to accommodate personal and family commitments, with the expectation of active participation in the life of the church.
